Producing with Care
Producing with Care is Generator’s new program to support artist-caregivers. For this season, we are offering in-person sessions to support performing arts artist-producers who are caregivers of young children.
Willow Play Cafe (1540 Dupont St, Toronto)
Wednesday February 25
1-4pm (two slots: 1-2:30, 2:30-4pm)
At these sessions we will provide:
On-site childminding, so artist-caregivers can focus on their producing work while their children play safely nearby
Dedicated time and space for informal or formal mentorship. Artist-caregivers can bring questions about their projects to Generator staff & industry mentors, or simply co-work alongside peers.
Snacks for both artist-caregiver and children
Ways to participate:
Producing support: Artist-caregivers can bring their performing arts producing tasks (grants to write, budgets to build, etc) and have focused time to work, with Generator staff and other industry professionals on site to provide guidance and feedback as needed
Social time: Artist-producers and their child(ren) can also simply join us at the Willow Play Cafe to enjoy the play space and refreshments, and connect with other artist-producer caregivers in Generator’s community.
Who can participate:
Anyone who is working in the performing arts (at any stage of their career) who is a caregiver of young children (6 years and younger) is welcome to participate. (Older siblings who play gently are welcome to join, as capacity allows.)
We particularly encourage participation from artist-caregivers who face multiple barriers to access (disabled/chronically ill caregivers, single/solo parents, caregivers facing financial barriers, newcomer caregivers, Black, Indigenous and racialized caregivers, trans and queer caregivers, etc.)
There is no cost to participate. There are two 90-minute time slots; please select your top choice. Spots are limited; please fill out the form below and we will get back to you ASAP to confirm your spot or if you are on the waitlist.
